It was a period characterized by the fusion of electronic music and funk elements which laid the foundation for future hip hop and dance music movements.

At its core, @rasterms37 "Terockatron 23" pays homage to the rich heritage of ancient civilizations, drawing inspiration from the mystical world of hieroglyphics cave paintings. The primal strokes and earth tones evoke a deep sense of connection to the ancestral past.
As you delve deeper into the composition, you are met with a surprising twist—the introduction of graffiti via aerosol and the texture of paint sticks.
This infusion of #urbanmodernism adds a dynamic and rebellious energy to the piece. Vibrant splashes of color, bold lines, and stylized character work creates a juxtaposition of old and new, tradition and rebellion.

Sometimes...things get left unsaid just because of how much there is to say. It's impossible to fit all the gratitude, hardwork, and overall energy of the past week into one Instagram caption. ⚡
In fact, it's not just the last week... It's almost a decade in the making. 9 years apart from his first show with CT - we welcomed back @rasterms37 with open arms and Chicago, you showed UP.
We're so grateful for each and every person who came out last night to experience "Electro FUNK". Thank you for showing Terms SO MUCH LOVE.
But truly, the most important person to acknowledge is the artist himself. @rasterms37 put an Incredible amount of time and energy into, not only an entirely new body of original work but also, the creation of TWO stunning pieces painted in store.
Adorning the ceiling and the floor just speaks to the artist and his passion and the creativity that flows through him. It's been an honor and A BLAST reconnecting with @rasterms37 this past week and we are forever grateful for the opportunity to showcase his work.
Thank you to @artelementals for connecting the dots and doing so much behind the scenes 🖤

It's the spirit of hip hop, the spirit of graffiti, spirituality, and mysticism. ELECTRO FUNK IS the blueprint.

@rasterms37 is a Miami-born spiritual street artis

@rasterms37 is a Miami-born spiritual street artist and graffiti pioneer who has been dedicated to his craft since the mid-1980s when he became one of the first artists to paint the walls in the historic Wynwood Art District.
After his early entry into Miami’s street scene, he planted significant roots living and painting in Oakland, CA - where it is impossible to deny his presence. Ras Terms has become one of the most highly respected artists by his peers within the community.
Having traveled across the world painting, exhibiting at major institutions, like the Oakland Museum of Contemporary Art and the Smithsonian Institution, he's earned his reputation as a master of letters and characters. His iconic “Street Angel” character can found on walls all around the world.
Ras Terms has studied and practiced many ancient traditions from Africa and South America, his work reflects many cultures including Rastafari, Yoruba, Alchemy, Kemetism, Santaria, Vodum and Hermetism.
"Electro FUNK" is his second solo show at Chicago Truborn - the first debuting in 2014. Nearly a decade later he returns with close to 40 pieces created exclusively for this exhibition.
Join us for the artist reception Saturday evening from 4-8 pm only at Chicago Truborn. Entry is free and open to the public.
